September 5, 2018 – Photo Contest Winner, Jessica Colver

Jessica Colver is this year’s winning photographer!  Stop by the library to see her winning entry in this year’s contest with the theme, “Mellen’s Historic Architecture”.  She photographed the ironwork entrance sign to the Mellen Union Cemetery.  Many have shared positive feedback about Jessica’s composition and shared stories about the sign and its placement.  Congratulations, Jessica!

Library Book Clubs will meet for their first session next week. The Monday group is reading, “The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto” by Mitch Albom.  They’ll get together on the 10th at 6 PM to discuss.  The Wednesday group is reading, “Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane” by Lisa See.  They’ll get together on the 12th at Noon to discuss.  If you can’t make it this month we’ll be meting the on the 2nd Monday and Wednesday of each month through May.  Book lists are available at the library.

The Friends of the Library will meet Thursday, September 6th at 5 PM.  Be sure to stop by the Library and look at the beautiful Grand Prize Quilt made and donated by Sharon Wrege.  The quilt’s colors are a vibrant reflection of the Fall season.  Additional raffle prizes are on display.  Raffle tickets are $1 each and the raffle will be held on Saturday, September 29th.

Library School Storytime will begins September 6th at 9 AM.  We’ll meet eight weeks in a row and share a story, song, rhyme, and make a craft project.  This is a program geared toward 3 year old’s to attend with an adult caregiver.  Sign-up by calling (715-274-8331) or stopping by the library.

Conversation & Crafts will begin on Thursday, September 6th at 7 PM and plans to meet regularly on Thursday evenings.  Everyone is welcome to bring their own handcraft projects.  Share ideas and patterns, learn something new or just stop by and visit.  On September 27th, we invite anyone interested in painting on rocks to join us.

The Friends of the Library’s Used Book Sale shelves are overflowing!  Fill a paper bag for $2, fill a plastic bag for $1, hardcover books are 25 cents, paperback books are 10 cents, CDs and DVDs are 50 cents, and magazines are free.  No additional donations are being taken at this time.
