If you’re in need of a book and the library is not open, head to the Little Free Library at Gilman Park. Thank you to our Friend Betty White who keeps it well stocked.
Our fall programming will begin soon. Are you interested in joining one of our Book Clubs? Each club meets once a month. One on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6pm and the other on the third Wednesday of the month at 9am. Monday’s first book to discuss is “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry on the 14th at 6pm. Wednesday’s first book to discuss is “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt on the 16th at 9am. We borrow books through the interlibrary loan system of the Northern Waters Library Network so, there is no need to purchase books. Let our library staff know your interest and we will place a hold for you.
If technology is not your strong suit, stop by the library and get some help. The CLICK (Connecting Lives Through Internet and Community Knowledge) & Learn Program is offered every other Monday at the Library. Help is available, free of charge, through Digital Navigator, Jake Koval. He will be here at 10am-2pm on August 31st. Stop by with your phone, tablet, and/or laptop questions. If you are interested in borrowing a laptop to use at home, Jake will also have them available for checkout. His help is sponsored through grant monies that The Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board received.
The last Tuesday Morning Movie will be on the 25th at 10:30am. You are welcome to bring your own comfy chairs, snacks, and beverage. The library will supply popcorn.
The final countdown is on: The Pteranodons (Kids) have accumulated 2,406 reading points and are in the lead against the Velociraptors (Adults) with 1,166 reading points. The Reading Challenge does not end until August 31st. There is plenty of time to earn reading medals before the start of school.
The Friends Place is always available to enjoy. Check out the kaleidoscope, enjoy a local treat at our tables with umbrellas for shade while you enjoy the view of the Penokee Mountains. Outlets are available for you to charge your devices as needed. There’s a little house (Little Free Library type) at The Friends Place which is home to some table games and chalk for you to use if you wish. Pick up a treat at one of our local businesses or pack a picnic and enjoy The Friends Place.
We enjoy a paint night once a month. Our next paint night will be on Friday, September 4th at 6pm. We will paint along with Michelle the Painter to create “Turn the Page to Autumn”. Register in advance at the library. A supply list is available from the library. The library also has supplies available. There is no cost to attend this event.
Young children are invited to attend Library School Storytime once a week for 8 weeks at 9am. Let the librarian working the circulation desk know of your interest, so we can plan accordingly.
