Summer Reading Celebration!
This is it the last few days to record Summer Reading points. The deadline is noon on Friday, August 25th. Our Summer Reading Celebration is Saturday, August 26th at 7:30 pm at The Friends Place, our Library’s outdoor patio. Those participants from each of the four categories with the most points will receive a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card. Then a drawing will be held for an additional $50 Barnes & Noble gift card from all the reading points tickets. One winner from each of the four category bags. We’ll also have a door prize drawing. At dusk, about 8:15 we’ll be showing an outdoor movie, “Charlotte’s Web”. Bring your comfy camp chairs for the event. Popcorn & lemonade will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own additional snacks. In case of rain, we’ll move indoors.
Story Time, aka ‘Library School’ by some will be offered this Fall for 3-year-olds to attend with an adult caregiver. Story Time will take place Thursday mornings at 9 am for 8 weeks, September 7-October 26. We’ll meet about an hour to play, read, sing, & create. Please stop by the library to register your child. A fun start to Fall for the little ones as the big kids begin their school year.
If you are unable to attend Story Time, the library also hosts 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. In this program you simply record points and pick out a small prize for each 100 books read. Let us know of your interest and we can sign your child up and help you get started.
Conversation & Crafts will hold a reunion (New members always welcome!) on Thursday, September 7th at 7pm. Bring your handcrafts and join fellow crafters at the table. Share what you’ve been working on and/or what you’ve been up to.
Stop by anytime and enjoy The Friends Place. A beautiful spot to recharge while enjoying the view of the Penokees.
If you’re out for a walk-through town, stop by The Friends’ Little Free Library at Gilman Park. Take a book. Share a book.
The Library Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, August 29th at 5:30pm. The Policy Committee will meet an hour before at 4:30pm.
