The Adventure Begins at Your Library is this year’s Summer Reading theme.  Sign-up and record reading points starting June 1 and ending July 31.  Earn 50 reading points and receive a reading medal.  There are four groups of readers: ages 0-5 (Kindergarten), First-Fifth Grades, Sixth-Twelfth Grades, and Adults.  A variety of programming opportunities are planned for the Summer.

The adults start off with an acrylic paint night on June 7 at 6pm. They’ll paint along with Angela Anderson to create her “Rustic Barn in Wildflowers”.  Followed by the first of three Summer Book Club discussions on Monday, June 10 at 6pm.  We hope to meet at The Friends Place and discuss “Last Night at the Lakeside Supper Club” by J. Ryan Stradel.

In addition to the reading challenge, the Sixth-Twelfth Graders are encouraged to create Book Merge Photos, Book Spine Poetry, and Recycle Book Art.  Not sure what these are; do some research or stop by the library to check out examples. Your creations may then be entered in a contest at the library to win prizes: 1st Place $15, 2nd Place $10, 3rd Place $5. Entries may be brought to the library for display and will also be highlighted on our Facebook page & website.  Enter through July 24.  Winners will be announced July 31.

The kids are welcome to join us for the movie “Wish” on Tuesday, June 18th at 10am.  Programming will continue through the month of July on Tuesdays at 10am for our First-Fifth Graders.  Their program themes are Adventure Maps, Movie: Wonka, Adventure Story Stones, BubblePalooza, Adventure Awaits Painting, and Treasure Hunt.

Our Storytime time group ages 3-5 will begin sessions Wednesday, July 3rd at 9am and meet weekly through the month of July.  There program themes are Red, White & Blue Celebration, The Tortoise & The Hare, Wonders of Water, Paint Party, and Library Olympics.

Take & Makes will continue to be available each month.  Stop by and pickup your Pom-Pom Caterpillar craft and a bag of books to start earning your summer reading points.

The Friends of the Library will meet on Thursday, June 6th at 5pm.

Hope to see you this Summer at the Library!
