September is Library Card Sign-up Month!
Stop by the library to get your library card and receive a vinyl sticker, “I “Heart” My Wisconsin Library”. Or stop by the library, show us your library card, and receive the sticker.
Thursday, September 21st the Friends of the Library will host movie night at 6pm. Join us in watching the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” inside the library. Popcorn will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own beverages and additional snacks. You may also wish to bring a camp chair. We’ll round out our Thursday nights at the library on the 28th with Game Night at 6pm and begin again in October. Stay tuned.
The Friends of the Library have switched things up a bit. Instead of hosting a quilt raffle, we will be joining our friends out at the Copper Falls Fall Fest on Saturday, September 23 from 10am-3pm. We will have a booth with information about the library and the Friends of the Library. Librarian Jennie Thewis will be on hand to read a book to children who stop by. We’ll also have a craft for kids to make & take home. Come see us at the park, learn about your local library, and The Friends of the Library. This will be the kickoff of our Fall Friends membership drive. Yearly membership dues are $3 for an individual; $5 for a family; $25 for a supporting member; and a one-time donation of $100 for a lifelong membership and a name on a plaque. Consider joining the Friends. Help us promote our small-town community library.
The library receives 25 copies of Book Page each month. Pick up your free copy and enjoy this guide for new books in a variety of categories. See what you’re interested in, make a list, and visit the library. If we don’t have it, we can borrow it from another library as soon as it becomes available. Available from our library as well as other NWLN (Northern Waters Library Network) libraries is William Kent Krueger’s new book, “The River We Remember”. There’s a waiting list. Let us know if you’d like us to add your name. We have a large print copy on order and will add that too, as soon as it arrives.
If you’re in need of a book and missed the library open hours, swing by Gilman Park and chose something from the Friends of the Library’s Little Free Library.
The Library Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, September 26 at 5:30pm.
