New Bellringer Race Director

The Friends of the Library are pleased to announce that the 2024 Bellringer Race Director is Mike Thewis. Mike is a para-professional at the Mellen School, as well as a school bus driver.  During the Summer, you’ll find him working at Copper Falls State Park.  He is also a member of the Mellen Lions Club.  He is looking forward to working with our past volunteers, sponsors, and participants and welcoming all newcomers to make this event  a success. This will be the 40th Anniversary of the Bellringer and there will be a few changes. Only one race this year; a Two-Mile competition.  An award will be given to the top male & female runners in the race. Participants will receive a celebratory anniversary ribbon after crossing the finish line. The route is yet to be determined, pending road construction plans.  This will continue to be an issue for the next few years.  We will keep you posted.

Asahi Nordic Exercise class doubled in size this past week. The classes will meet Wednesdays at 4pm through February 7th.  You are welcome to join us.  The Friends of the Library are paying for the instructor’s travel expenses.  If you’d like to donate to the instructor for her time, an $8 per session is recommended.  Call the library at 715-274-8331 to register.
