May 22 – Library Closed = Carpets Cleaned
Conversation & Crafts will meet on Thursday, the 23rd at 6 PM to create Button Bouquets. There’s a sample at the Library and a picture on our Facebook page. For craft, bring an assortment of buttons, a small vase (salt shaker size), and a small needle nose pliers, if you have them. If you don’t have a pliers, we’ll have a few to share. Wire will be provided. At 7 PM we’ll watch, “Isn’t It Romantic” starring Rebel Wilson. You are welcome to join us for either or both events. You may bring your own comfortable camp chair, beverage, and snacks. The library will provide popcorn.
The library will be closed for carpet cleaning on Friday, May 24th and Saturday, May 25th.
The library will be closed on Monday, May 27th for Memorial Day.
During Mrs. LaRose’s 2nd Grade class visit to the library we read, “Memorial Day” by Karen Latchana Kenney. We took time to learn about the First World War soldiers who returned home and helped to start our library. Students then made a paper quilt window display in remembrance of those who died in service to our country. They also created a white board picture. Stop by the Mellen Library & Senior Center lobby to see their work. Thank you to all who served and to those who are active duty members. We appreciated your dedication and service.
The Antique Tractor Show will be on Friday, May 31st. Tractors will be on display 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the Library. Then at 10:30, they will parade to Mellen Manor and return to the Library and be on display until 2 PM. This year we’ve added a Color a Tractor Picture and return to Library for an entry into a drawing (not a coloring contest). All returned entries will be entered into a drawing. We’ll have prizes for 3 different age categories. Thewis Valley View Farm will be bringing a calf and the Chequamegon Dairy Association will be providing dairy treats.
Check out the Bellringer Run website for updates at mellenbellringer.org. Registration forms will soon be available in print and online. Prices will remain the same.
