March 11 – Legion Memorial Library, 93 Years of Service

The month of March holds two significant dates for Legion Memorial Library.  The 12th marks 93 years of service to our community and the 22nd is the date we opened our doors to our new Library space shared with the Mellen Senior Center.  There are days I miss walking up the City Hall steps and being a part of the everyday busyness of the City.  Having once been a part of Mellen’s living history in the beautiful Victorian building with the bell tower is something I’ll always treasure.  But I know that the space and accessibility provided in our new building is important to meet the needs of our community going forward.  I just can’t believe we’ve already been in our ‘new’ space ten years!  Thank you all for your continued support of the Library and its services.
Join us Wednesday, the 11th at 1:30 PM to watch, “Frozen 2”.  Popcorn will be served and you are welcome to bring your own additional snacks.
The Friends of the Library is hosting a FUN fundraiser on Pi Day, 3.14.  This Saturday, March 14th at 4 PM we’ll begin serving a pasty dinner, followed by a homemade pie auction at 5:30 PM.
This past Saturday morning, the Library hosted another full house of artists.  We created along with Cinnamon Cooney, the Art Sherpa, to paint, “Baseball in Grass”.  You may view the results on our library‘s Facebook page:  Legion Memorial Library.
The next painting class will be for teens and adults on Friday, March 27th at 6 PM.  We’ll be painting along with Jane Font’s YouTube presentation of, “Rustic Spring”.  Space is limited, so please contact the Library if you wish to join us.  A supply list will be shared once you have registered.
Library School Storytime will be held March 12th, 19th & 26th at 9 AM.  This program is planned for three year olds to attend with their special grown-up, but other ages are welcome to attend.  We read, sing, and play.  We’ll be taking the month of April off and meet again in the month of May.
New books and DVDs are on order thanks to a Collection Development Grant.  We be processing them ASAP.
Hope to see you soon at the Library.
