The celebration of our Independence Day will have passed by the time this reaches your hands. All is still ahead as I write this. For months the Friends of the Library have been busy preparing for the Bellringer and selling Summer Raffle tickets. I’m so appreciative for all the time and effort that this wonderful team of volunteers contribute to making our fundraising events successful. Thank you to our Friends officers: Kay Reader, president; Ruth Brennan, vice president; Marcy Henri, Secretary; and Cheryl Hamm, treasurer. Thank you to Mike Thewis for leading the charge for the Bellringer Race. Thank you to all our Race volunteers and participants. Thank you to all who bought raffle tickets. You are appreciated. A more complete report of our events will be in next week’s paper.
The Pteranodons (Kids) have accumulated 1,092 reading points and are in the lead against the Velociraptors (Adults) with only 436 reading points. Calling all adult readers! We need you on our team! Join us in this reading challenge. There is plenty of summertime reading left before school starts. Let’s give these kids a real reading challenge. The last of our five week morning programs for the Middles on Tuesdays and the Littles on Thursdays will be wrapping up on July 14th & July 16th. The Reading Challenge does not end until August 31st. There is plenty of time to earn reading medals. There will also be a new dinosaur related activity out to enjoy doing at the library or to pick up and complete at home through August.
