July 17 – Copper Falls Park Naturalist at the Library
Summer Reading continues . . . We will be hosting Diane Daulton, Park Naturalist and Visitor Services Associate from Copper Falls State Park. This special Wednesday afternoon program will be held on July 17th, 1-3 pm. Birch bark canoes will be our project. All are welcome to attend.
Thursday, the 18th at 6 pm join us in a night of recycled crafting. At 7 pm we’ll show the movie Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase. This movie is rated PG and is 89 minutes long.
Friday, the 19th at 7 pm is Acrylic Painting Night. This month’s project is a “Ladybug Daisy” painting with Angela Anderson. You will need to pre-register to attend as space is limited. Call or visit the Library for more details.
Tuesday, the 23rd is STEAM activities from 10 am to 12 pm. We’ve done a Monarch butterfly session with caterpillars, chrysalises, and milkweed from the Kleczka family, a Meeperbot Lego build with races around an obstacle course, Chromatography and straw rockets. Who knows what next week will bring? Stop by and find out. Check your calendars for the following STEAM activity days at the Library: July 23rd & 30th and August 6th.
There are 63 children, 5th Grade and under registered and 12 have earned a reading medal, a chance to win $50 or $25 or $10. They will be able to enter the drawing an additional time for each 50 reading point earned. There are 16 students in 6th-12th Grades entered in Summer Reading and half of them have already earned 50 reading points! They may choose to receive a medal and are entered in a drawing for their age bracket with the same prize offerings as above. There are 41 adults in Summer Reading and 21 have entered their names in the drawing for the drawing. Here are the point totals: 5th Grade & under, 1,877 points; 6th -12th Grade, 684 points; and Adults, 2, 333 points.
