January 22 – A Look Ahead

On Thursday, February 13th at 6 PM we will be hosting a video presentation of author Elaine Weiss’s introduction of her book, “The Woman’s Hour:  The Great Fight to Win the Vote” at Woodrow Wilson National History Center in Washington D.C.  This event was initiated by the League of Women’s Voters of Ashland and Bayfield Counties.  They reached out to area libraries to partner in celebrating the Centennial of the 19th Amendment.  Mellen‘s Friends of Our Wonderful Library have voted to purchase four copies of Weiss’s book to add to our library’s lending collection.  This will help in getting area citizens ready to participate in book discussions in various locations for the Second Chequamegon Reads event.  Our library will host a book discussion in August, as part of our Annual Summer Reading Destination Book Club.
Library School Storytime will start their 2nd session on Thursday, February 6th at 9 AM.  Storytime usually includes a rhyme, song, game, craft and book.  It is planned for a three year old to attend with an adult caregiver.  That said, children of all ages are welcome to attend and participate as they are able.  Please contact the library to register.  This is important, so that enough supplies needed for the day’s activities will be prepared and on hand.  This session will focus on books by Todd Parr.
The Library Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, January 28th at 5:30 PM for their regular monthly meeting.  The committee working on the Staff Handbook will meet at 4:30 PM the same day.
