Happy 4th of July!

We’re looking forward to celebrating with you!

The Bellringer Race starts on July 4th at 8:30am. The race route is the same for the 2024 Two Mile Race as it was in 2023.  The start/finish line is at the intersection of Monroe St./2nd St. near the Town of Morse Hall. There’s still time to sign up for the Friends of the Library’s Bellringer Run.  Register online here: https://register.chronotrack.com/r/79567. The Friends will host Early Bird Pick-up at the Library on July 3rd 4-6pm; and Bib/T-shirt Pick-up and Registration at the Library on July 4th 7-8am.  Registration closes promptly at 8am on the 4th to allow volunteers to head to the Town of Morse Hall.

Please note the library will not be open on Friday, July 5th. But we will host several events later in the afternoon at Gilman Park.

Join us for an Asahi Nordic Exercise demonstration at Gilman Park on Friday, July 5th at 4pm.  Asahi is a gentle exercise program suitable for all ages and abilities.  We will meet July 5th at 4pm in Gilman Park.  Come and try it out for yourself.  We work all movements from a standing position.  No need to get up & down from the ground which means no need for a mat. We’ll have a special guest instructor all the way from Finland.  Stop by and say, “Hello!”

The Friends are also having a Summer Raffle with cash prizes.  You may purchase tickets from the library and Friends members.  Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20.  The drawing will be held after the Asahi demonstration at Gilman Park on July 5th and before the Frog Jump.  Thank you for supporting the Friends.

The 50th Annual Friends of the Library’s Frog Jump will be held on July 5th at 5pm in Gilman Park.  Come and enjoy this family fun event!

Summer Reading Weekly Challenge Report:  Tortoises (Kids) have 26 team members so far and have earned 1181 reading points.  The Hares (Adults) have 21 team members and have earned 837 reading points.  The Tortoises passed the Hare already!  Come on Hares!  Are you napping?  Snacking? Or sidetracked by all the 4th of July activities ahead?  Stop by during the library’s open hours: Monday-Thursday 10am-5pm and Friday & Saturday 9am-noon to sign-up for summer reading, check out books, and add reading points.

We’re offering a variety of Summer programming for all ages.  Next week on the 9th at 10am the kids, Grades 1-5, will meet to learn about Adventure Story Stones.  On the 10th at 9am Summer Storytime for our 3–5-year-olds will meet to learn about The Tortoise & The Hare.  The Friends of the Library will meet on the 11th at 5pm for a Bellringer Run wrap-up discussion.  On Friday, the 12th at 6pm there will be a gathering of our acrylic painters to work with The Art Sherpa to paint, “Two Hummingbirds”.

Hope to see you soon!
