The Fall Quilt Raffle is almost here! Join us Saturday, September 24th for this Annual Friends of Our Wonderful Library/FOWL event at the Library. This year is extra special as the Friends will be dedicating their outdoor space with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Mellen Chamber of Commerce at 9 am. Join us and then stay to enjoy the Mellen Peace Choir as they sing a special Mellen version of “Country Roads”. The Peace Choir will have a few additional selections and lead us in a sing-a-long as we wait for the drawing which will take place at noon. Enjoy milk & cookies courtesy of the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, the Chequamegon Dairy Association, and FOWL.
Maybe you’d be interested in joining the Friends of the Library. This is the start of our membership drive. We’d love to have you join us in planning our future activities & fundraisers. Raffle tickets for our grand prize quilt made by Carol Noth will be available for $1 each. Many other handmade and donated prizes will also be available. A collection of used books will be for sale.
Especially for the kiddos, we invite you to enjoy the StoryWalk of “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds, then stop and “make your mark” and be entered for art supply prizes. Help us plant daffodil bulbs for a happy Spring surprise. And for our first 20 visiting kids, there will be canvas book bags available. Find out about our reading patch program and the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge. And let’s not forget about Storytime. Our first fall session will be on October 6th at 9 am. This would be a great day to register for Storytime!
We’re looking forward to a beautiful fall day spent with our friends. Hope to see you there.
