February Is Kindness Month
It’s Random Acts of Kindness Week (February 14-20) in Kindness Month with Random Acts of Kindness Day falling on the 17th, this Friday. Please be kind to one anther this week especially, but there is a saying, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” Something to practice every day. You may like to share the following books with a young person in your life: “Be Kind” by Pat Zietlow Miller, “The Kindness Book” by Todd Parr, “The Kindness Quilt” by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace, “Try a Little Kindness” by Henry Cole. Here are some titles for us grownups looking for a little inspiration: “Activate Your Goodness, Transforming the World Through Doing Good” by Sheri Arison and “In Defense of Kindness, Why It Matters, How It Changes Our Lives, and How It Can Save the World” by Bruce Reyes-Chow.
This weekend is also a global event, “The Great Backyard Bird Count”. Check out the following site: https://www.birdcount.org/ for more information. There is a webinar on the 15th, details on how to participate, results posted, and a way to showcase your pictures. The library has a nice selection of bird identification books, thanks to our friends, Carol & Rich Becker. The library also has books on how to build bird houses.
I’d like to thank the online art tutor, Cinnamon Cooney, The Art Sherpa for sharing her talents with us as we gathered last Friday night to paint, “Pop Art Cat with Lemons”. You may see our results on the Library’s Facebook page or our website, legionmemoriallibrary.org.
Our next paint night will be Friday, March 17th at 6 pm. Call or stop by the library to register. We’ll be painting, “Spring Lamb” with The Art Sherpa.
