We are in the midst of National Library Week.  Thursday the 10th is Take Action for Libraries Day.  Stop in and make a Thank You card for a deserving person or organization in your life.  The Friends will also host the April meeting at 5pm.  Friday the 11th is Drawn to the Library Day stop in to learn more about CreativeBug an online source available to our library.  We’ll be watching video tutorials from CreativeBug to learn about drawing.  Saturday is D.E.A.R. Day -Drop Everything And Read Day.  I hope everyone can find 30 or more minutes to D.E.A.R!  If you’d like to share a picture of yourself or family reading, especially on Saturday, you may email it to me, and I will put it on the library’s Facebook page [email protected]

Both Book Clubs will meet next week.  Monday the 14th at 6pm we will discuss “Ghosted” by Rosie Walsh and Wednesday the 16th at 9am we will discuss “Coal River” by Ellen Marie Wiseman. Only the May Book Club meetings are left before we are set to start our Summer Reading Book Club.  Let us know now at the library if you are interested.  This year’s theme is “Color Our World”.

Author Jeff Hein will be here at the Mellen Library on April 23rd at 6:30pm to share his newly released third novel in the Cimbrian War series, “Terror Cimbricus”.  Hein will have books available for purchase and will sign them for you.  If you need to catch up, the library has his first two books in the series available for check out, “Out of the Northern Mists, The Cimbri Appear” and “Rise of the Red Wolf”.  Jeff Hein is a graduate of Mellen High School, come out and celebrate his success as we welcome him back to Mellen.

The Northern Waters Library Network now has a new catalog.  If you use a mobile device for placing holds you must download the Northern Waters Library Network app from your preferred app store to access the new catalog.  The benefits of the mobile app are the ability to add your library card to your device’s digital wallet for easy access, search the catalog and request items to be delivered to your home library, and you may scan the UPC symbol an any book and find out if your library has it in their collection.
