Deer & Turkey Hunting Books available at the Library

There are many great titles available to celebrate the month of November.  For youngsters getting ready for deer hunting season, you may enjoy:  “The Legend of the Ghost Buck” and “The Lost Deer Camp” by Lane Walker, “Trophy Buck” by Art Coulson, and “Deer Hunt, Rescue In the Rockies” by Emily L. Hay Hinsdale.  There are also other hunting tales available in these series. “On the Hunt: The History of Deer Hunting in Wisconsin” by Robert C. Willging or “Blaze Orange: Whitetail Deer Hunting in Wisconsin” by Travis Dewitz are available in our adult non-fiction section.  For all of us looking forward to getting together over dinner, you may find a new recipe to share in one of our magazines: Better Homes & Gardens, Midwest Living, Good Housekeeping, The Pioneer Woman, Real Simple, or Taste of Home.  Picture books include: “Gobble, Gobble” by Cathryn Falwell, “Thank You, Thanksgiving” by David Milgrim, “Round the Turkey, a Grateful Thanksgiving” by Leslie Kimmelman, or “The Perfect Thanksgiving” by Eileen Spinell.  A book titled “365 Thank Yous, The Year a Simple Act of Daily Gratitude Changed My Life” by John Kralik may inspire some.  Victoria Houston’s 9th book in her Loon Lake series, “Dead Hot Shot” is set during Thanksgiving as is Joanne Fluke’s “Raspberry Danish” from the Hannah Swensen mysteries set in Minnesota and in the made for Hallmark TV series and Jennifer Chiaverini’s “A Quilter’s Holiday” from the Elm Creek Quilt series.  Come and browse our shelves and find your next read.

Roscoe, our two headed snake is ready for hibernation.  Those of you who would like your painted rocks are welcome to pick them up and bring them home.  Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us.
The Friends of the Library will be meeting on Thursday, November 14th at 5pm.  Come and join us and help us plan for 2025 and beyond.
Join us for a movie night on Thursday, November 14th at 6:30pm to watch It Ends with Us based on the book by Colleen Hoover.  You are welcome to bring your own comfy camp chairs, snacks, and beverages.  The library will have popcorn.
There are only a couple more sessions of Asahi Nordic Exercise left this year.  We meet on Wednesday afternoons at 4pm with Naomi Kauppi for this gentle mind and body health exercise.  Stop in and see if this is something to keep you moving through the winter ahead.  The library has a book available for check out “Asahi the Nordic Health Practice” and there are online videos available to follow along while we take a break in December.  We hope to start back up in January 2025.
The library will offer two movie mornings on November 25 & 26 at 10am.  Monday we will show “Harold and the Purple Crayon” and Tuesday we will show “Inside Out 2”.  We will also have crafts set out for the kids to work on in the afternoons.  Stop by the library check out books, stay for a movie and enjoy a craft project or two during the School’s Deer Hunting/Thanksgiving Break.
