Book Club Celebrates 20 Years and Counting …
There are two book clubs that meet at the library. One meets the 2nd Monday of the month at 6pm and the other on the third Wednesday at 9am. Monday, September 9th at 6pm we will discuss “Tom Lake” by Ann Patchett. Wednesday, September 18th we will discuss “At the Edge of the Orchard” by Tracy Chevalier. We borrow our books through the Northern Waters Library Network of libraries, so there is no need to purchase books. Our list of books and book club dates may be found on our library’s website, https://www.legionmemoriallibrary.org/ If you would like to join one of the clubs, call 715-274-8331 or stop by the library and let us know.
Thursday, August 29th at 7pm the library will host a movie night for grownups. Join us for Argylle, a comedy featuring an author of spy novels whose books seem to be mimicking the actions of a real-life spy organization. Please bring a comfortable camp chair for viewing and any snacks or beverages you would like. The library will have popcorn available. Argylle is the plan, but if it does not arrive by Thursday, we will take a vote for About My Father or Jerry & Marge Go Large.
Add a painted rock to help us “grow” Roscoe the library’s reading snake. Tuesday mornings 10:30-noon, through August you may paint a rock here at the library or you may add one you’ve painted at home.
Check out our Acrylic Paint Night paintings on our library’s website, https://www.legionmemoriallibrary.org/ or Facebook page, Legion Memorial Library. Last week we followed along with The Art Sherpa to paint “That Sunset You Loved”.
If you’ve been visiting libraries with your Passport, be sure to turn them in by this Saturday, August 31st to be registered for drawing prizes.
Next week the Friends will meet on Thursday, September 5th at 5pm.
Hope to see you soon at the library.
