The Friends of the Library will be sending out Sponsorship letters for the 2025 Bellringer Two Mile Fun Run this week. The race will be on Friday, July 4th and we plan to be back to our original two-mile course, starting by the Mellen Post Office and finishing by the Northern State Bank.  Sponsorships are $100.  We welcome your support.

We’ve been busy weeding our children’s and young adult shelves.  Check out the used book sale carts for books to bring home or share with the young people in your life.  Many to choose from.  The Friends of the Library ask for a $1 a bag donation.  Monies collected help with their programs & projects.

The Friends of the Library welcome you to stop by the library for a cup of coffee from our Keurig station.  On these cold winter days visit the library and warm up with a hot beverage and browse our shelves for your next read.  You may also enjoy reading the paper editions of the Mellen Weekly Record, Glidden Enterprise, Ashland Press, and the Ironwood Globe.  There is a community puzzle and a ‘Stick Together’ puzzle to work on.  Come relax and enjoy some time at the library.

The Wednesday Morning Book Club will meet on the 19th at 9am to discuss “Almost Sisters” by Joshilyn Jackson.  Our book for March is “Cakewalk” by Rita Mae Brown.  If you’re interested in joining us let us know.  We borrow books through inter-library loan so there is no need to purchase books.

Stop by the Library Wednesdays anytime between 10am -1:30pm for help with your laptop, tablet, and/or phone questions.  Jay Seppanen with the Click & Learn program grant will be at the library to help.  If you would like to borrow a laptop for use at your home, Jay can also help make that happen.  Stop by the library while he is here and he’ll set you up.

It is never too late to get started on your health goals.  Join us for Asahi Nordic exercise on Wednesdays at 4pm.  All ages are welcome.  The movements are completed with attention to your breathing.  Wear comfortable clothing (no mats needed) and join us for ASAHI: A Simple And Healthy Idea.  The Friends of the Library are sponsoring this weekly event.

Paint Night for February will be on the 21st at 6pm. We will be creating a ‘red barn’ picture. Call or stop by the library to sign-up. A list of supplies is available.
