Paper forms are available from the library – https://www.legionmemoriallibrary.org/– Those wishing to purchase a t-shirt but will not be running, have a separate form to fill out, available at the library. The Friends also have cowbells for sale with a recommended donation of $10 for each. These may be purchased from the library. There are only 100 bells. Let’s see how fast we can sell them.
There are a few spots left for our acrylic painting classes on Friday at 6:30 pm and Saturday at 12:30 pm. We’ll be painting along with the Art Sherpa online. Following along as she guides us through, “Loose Poppies”. If you’d like to join us, please contact the library, 715-274-8331. A supply list will be shared once you register.
A book you may want to check out from the library is, “The Poppy Lady, Moina Belle Michael and Her Tribute to Veterans” by Barbara Elizabeth Walsh. The author shares the story of a woman who cared deeply about supporting soldiers going to war and also those returning home. She knew that returning soldiers needed care & support as well as the families that had lost someone in service to our country. Find out how Moina Belle Michael lived her life and earned the title, “The Poppy Lady”.
If you’re interested in joining our Summer Reading Book Club contact the library. Books are borrowed from our neighboring NWLS libraries, so there is no need to buy the books to participate. June: “Great Circle” by Maggie Shipstead; July: “The Stars Are Fire” by Anita Shreve; and August: “Still Summer” by Jacquelyn Mitchard.
Be on the lookout for my updates about Summer Reading at the library.
