A Gift

The library received a gift of $100 in honor of “World Book Day” and in honor of what would have been Chuck Taggett’s 99th birthday.  Thank you so much for this gift to our Legion Memorial Library, Martha Taggett. Our community is so grateful to you for your generosity.

The Friends of the Library’s T-shirt Design Contest winner is … Kristi Thompson of Brookfield. Be sure to get your official 2023 Bellringer t-shirt by placing your order, or by registering for the Bellringer Race by Noon, Friday, June 9th.  Paper forms may be picked up from the library or printed from our website, legionmemoriallibrary.org (click the City Hall bell photo and follow the links).  They must be returned to the library by the deadline.  Race registration is open until 8 am Race Day but t-shirts will be unavailable after Noon on June 9th.  Online registration is available for race participants here: https://register.chronotrack.com/r/73226

Next week, Author Jeff Hein MHS Class of 1981 will be visiting the Library on Wednesday, May 17th at 6 pm.  Please join us in welcoming him to our library and learning about the next installment of, “The Cimbrian War Series, Rise of the Red Wolf”.

The Friends of the Mellen Library are excited to announce a Summer Raffle!  Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.  They are available from Friends of the Library members or at the Library. The drawing will be held on July 4th at The Friends Place (library patio) during our Bellringer Race Awards Ceremony.  Prizes: 10ft kayak, 2 two-day general admission tickets to Concert in the Corn, Corn Hole Game, Treat Yourself with $100, and $100 gas card.  The kayak is on display at the library.

The Northern Waters Library Network/NWLN is sponsoring a Library Passport Program.  Stop in right here at the Mellen library and pick up a passport. Visit ten NWLN libraries and enter your name for prizes.

Summer Reading 2023, “All Together Now” plans are underway.  The Friends of the Library will be sponsoring prizes.  Prizes will be awarded to the top reading points earned in four categories, 19+, 6th-12th Grades, 1st-5th Grades, and Kindergarten & under.  An additional prize will be drawn at random from additional reading points earned in each category.  In addition, there will be programs, challenges, and creative opportunities.  Stay tuned.
