It’s Library School Storytime! Thursday, September 3rd at 9am will be the first Storytime this Fall. We will read “Comin’ Down to Storytime” by Rob Reid. Storytime lasts about an hour and includes time for listening, singing, crafting, playing, and choosing books. Call the library at 715-274-8331 to register your child or next time you visit the library let us know of your interest. Knowing the number of participants lets us better prepare for the day.
The Friends of the Library will meet on Thursday, September 3rd at 5pm. September brings the Annual Friends Membership Drive. If you are interested in joining the Friends of the Library stop by our September meeting and find out more. The cost of membership is $10 a year, or you may become a lifetime member for $100. The Friends of a Wonderful Library support the Library’s vision, “To honor, enrich, and inspire”. To honor – the initiative of WWI veterans, the work of library staff past and present, and the time and talents of our many volunteers past and present; To enrich – with new books each year, by supporting the mind/body connection through weekly Asahi Nordic Exercise classes, “The Friends Place” new flooring with the partnership of the Mellen Lions Club (2023-24)), patio addition (2021-22), storage addition (2013), the library’s interior shelving, circulation desk, and internet station (2009-2010)and To inspire – with author visits, guest speakers, educational presentations, movie nights, summer reading, craft & hobby demonstrations, and reading incentives.
We enjoy a paint night once a month. Our next paint night will be on Friday, September 4th at 6pm. We will paint along with Michelle the Painter to create “Turn the Page to Autumn”. Register in advance at the library. A supply list is available from the library. The library also has supplies available. There is no cost to attend this event.
If you are interested in one of our book clubs, stop by the library to pick up a book for our September gatherings. I will also place holds as needed. On Monday, September 14th at 6pm we will discuss “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry. On Wednesday, September 16th at 9am we will discuss “Funny Story” by Emily Henry. Yes, this Wednesday title is a change from the book in last week’s article. Sometimes there just are not enough books of the chosen title for each book club member to receive a book. When this happens, I need to shuffle the titles around and possibly choose something that is not listed. If you are unable to join us at all the monthly meetings, you are welcome to join us when you can. New members are always welcome.
If technology is not your strong suit, stop by the library and get some help. The CLICK (Connecting Lives Through Internet and Community Knowledge) & Learn Program is offered every other Monday at the Library. Help is available, free of charge, through Digital Navigator, Jake Koval. He will be here at 10am-2pm on August 31st. Stop by with your phone, tablet, and/or laptop questions. If you are interested in borrowing a laptop to use at home, Jake will also have them available for checkout. His help is sponsored through grant monies that The Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board received.
Please note that the library will be closed for Labor Day, Monday, September 7th.
