Best Wishes, Cheryl

2025 Library Card Sign-Up Month

2025 Library Card Sign-Up Month

This past week we took time to celebrate and thank Cheryl Hamm for five years of service at the library.  Her time and dedication to the library and its services were and are  appreciated.  Cheryl was here through the pandemic.  She was trained while we wore masks, kept a distance, wiped down surfaces, and kept books in quarantine.  Cheryl stuck it out and we made it through.  From Cheryl’s experience at Book World, she brought her skill in book displaying to us.  We moved our book collections around and have a great display area for the new fiction and large print.  One of the ways we were able to reach out to people during the pandemic was through Facebook.  Each month Cheryl researched the variety of celebrations of the days of the month and found quotes to go with them.  Most often they were food related.  Who knew there are foods to celebrate every day of the year?  I sure didn’t.  But now I do.  Those posts continue and she has them completed through October.  Cheryl has also shared her talent of crafting with us through our monthly Take & Make crafts. Kids, parents, grandparents, and childcare providers alike are always happy to see the next craft to pick up and enjoy at home with their book selections.   Cheers and best wishes to Cheryl as her next chapter begins.

September’s Take & Make craft is a maple tree made with a paper towel tube and plenty of leaves to cut out.  Children improve their hand eye coordination and fine motor skills while they use the scissors tool.  In addition to making great memories with their partners in crafting whether it be mom or dad, grandma or grandpa, or caregiver.

The Friends of the Library will be holding their regular monthly meeting on Thursday, September 4th at 5pm.  September is their membership drive month.  If you’d like to join the Friends of the Library now would be a perfect time.  Dues are $10 a year per person or a $100 Lifetime membership.  With the Lifetime membership, your name is also added to a plaque at your library’s entrance.  Just ahead for the Friends is a booth at the Copper Falls Fall Fest.
