Outdoor Cupcake Art by Mellen School Students

Outdoor Cupcake Art by Mellen School Students

Thank you to the Mellen School students and their Art Teacher, Mrs. Kleczka for the 98+ paper mâché clay cupcakes made for Legion Memorial Library’s 98th Birthday.  Tasha Scribner was the door prize winner of the day.  She won a Green Bay Packer polar fleece blanket made and donated by Sally Sarnstrom.

March 12th at the Library began with volunteer Tana Turonie helping to install the cupcake display on our fence.  Kay Reader had bagged the cupcakes the day before, so they were ready to go and safe from rain or snow.  Mrs. Kruzan’s PreK class stopped by the library for Storytime to listen to “Llama, Llama Loves to Read” by Anna Dewdney and colored pictures of “Happy Birthday Cupcakes”.  Jay Seppanen, Digital Navigator, from the Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board was here and helped with computer, laptop, and phone questions.  A jigsaw puzzle was completed, cupcakes & coffee were enjoyed and our day ended with Naomi Kauppi’s Asahi Nordic Exercise class.  There was singing, “The Alphabet Song” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” by the PreK students.  There were checkouts of books, magazines, and DVDs by our many visitors.  The internet was accessed through our public computer stations, our wifi used via personal laptops and phones.  Questions were answered, books were found and returned.  It was a delivery day, so we printed notices of libraries wishing to borrow items from our shelves and received items from other Northern Waters Library Service libraries. Pretty much a normal Wednesday at the library except for the cupcakes which made it pretty special.

Friday, the 21st at 6pm is a paint night at the library.  We’ll be tutored online by Michelle the Painter to create her “Spring Is In the Air”.  We may have room for a couple of more painters, call 715-274-8331 and check ahead.  We register everyone in advance to be sure we have enough room in our limited space.  Thank you.

A cute walrus Make & Take project is available for March.  Stop by and pick one up and maybe select informational non-fiction books about your favorite animals to share with your favorite little person.

Hope to see you soon at the Library.
