LML’s 99th Birthday Plans

The library will celebrate its 99th Birthday on Thursday, March 12.  Our day will begin with Storytime for our Littles at 9am.  Stop by the library during our open hours, 10am-5pm, to enjoy a cupcake and share a story about the library.  We also invite you to share your ideas about how we should celebrate our Centennial next year.  The Friends will meet at 5pm for their regular monthly meeting and look forward to hearing your ideas.

The Friends of the Library hosted author Deb Wahlberg, who shared her memoir “Living in Triumph, Victory Over Fear.”  The story of her life surviving a number of bouts of cancer from the time she was 15.  The joy of music in her life, her family, friends, and faith all play a role in her story.  The book is available for check out at our library.  You may also purchase it on Amazon.  Deb Wahlberg taught vocal music in Hurley, and she continues singing with the Ironwood Chamber Singers and a chorus based in Marquette.  We were lucky enough to hear a beautiful melody sung in Finnish at the conclusion of our book talk.  Deb is also an A1 Asahi instructor, which means she trains others interested in becoming teachers of Asahi.  She joined us at our regular weekly Asahi session, and we hope she will join us again.  Asahi Nordic Exercise continues at 4pm on Wednesday afternoons.

The Ashland County Benefit Specialist will be at the Mellen Senior Center on Monday, March 9 from 9am-noon.

What Kind of Book Club Is This?!?! will meet on Monday, March 9 at 6pm to discuss “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett.

Lego Club meets Thursdays at 3:30pm for an hour.  Stop by and enjoy creating something with our Lego collection.
