Library’s Summer Reading Schedule 6/15/2022

Summer Reading is underway, and we hope you and your family and friends are up to this year’s reading challenge.   50 reading points earns you a raffle ticket for our drawing on September 1st.  50 reading points for children in 5th grade and under will also receive a reading medal.  There are a variety of drop-in (Stick Together & Fish of the Week to color), Take & Make (June, Ocean Friends Craft), and program (Listed below) activities to join in.  Pick and choose what best fits your Summer schedule.
Next week begins the Library’s Summer Reading programming.  Monday, June 20th at 6 pm the Summer Reading Book Club will meet to discuss, “Great Circle” by Maggie Shipstead.  Bring your camp chair and we will hold our first discussion in our outdoor space.  Tuesday, June 21st at 10 am is the first Summer Reading Program with Miss Lori for 2nd-5th Grades.  They’ll be learning about and creating some, “Ocean Friends”.  Wednesday, June 22nd at 9 am will be the first meeting of the Graphic Novel Club for Grades 3 & up.  We’ll learn about graphic novelist, Ben Clanton and draw his characters Narwhal & Jelly.  Members are also invited to share their work and develop characters of the own.  Thursday, June 23rd at 9 am will be the first Summer Reading Storytime for kids in Grade 1 in under.  We will read, “Fish Eyes” by Lois Ehlert and learn a little about Clown Fish from Miss Jen.
Plan to join us on a tour of, “Cathy’s Garden” on June 29th.  Beautification Committee member, Cathy Kern, has invited us to tour her garden.  We will meet at the Library at 6:30 pm and then head to the home of Dan & Cathy Kern.  They have worked together to create a beautiful country garden where wildlife enjoys visiting.  They share the story of their garden on our visit.  We have scheduled a rain date for the following day, Thursday, June 30, if needed.  Call or signup to attend at the Library.
