Hometown Celebration!

We hope to see you during Mellen’s 4th of July Hometown Celebration!  The Friends of the Library will be hosting their Annual Frog Jump on July 1st at 10 am with a new venue due to construction, the Mellen Little League Field.

Bellringer notes, Early Bird Pick-up is July 3rd from 4-6 pm at the Library; Race Day pick-up & Registration is July 4th from 7-8 am at the Library; Bellringer start is 8:30 am at the intersection on Monroe Street/2nd Street by Town of Morse Hall; and the Awards Ceremony is at the Library which will include the drawing for the Friends Summer Raffle.  Do you need tickets? Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.  They are available from Friends of the Library members or at the Library. The drawing will be held on July 4th at The Friends Place (library patio) during our Bellringer Race Awards Ceremony.  Prizes: 10ft kayak, 2 two-day general admission tickets to Concert in the Corn, Corn Hole Game, Treat Yourself with $100, and $100 gas card.  The kayak is on display at the library.

The 2023 Summer Reading Challenge has begun.  All ages welcome!  61 people have registered so far.  There’s plenty of time to record your reading points.  The Challenge ends Saturday, August 26th.  Signup at the library, read 25 points worth of books and enter a drawing for a $50 Barnes & Noble gift certificate.  Join us in the variety of programs available as they fit your schedule.  You may pick-up a paper list at the library or view the schedule on our website, legionmemoriallibrary.org The next programming dates are:  Tweens & Teens, June 30th at 12:30 to paint a Rustic American Flag, and July 3rd at 10 am to decorate a collection box for The Chequamegon Animal Shelter and 19+ (Adults), July 7th at 12:30 & 6:30 pm for Plein Air Painting from The Friends Place with your choice of subject(s).  In case of rain (or too buggy) bring a picture to paint form. Additional programming for younger children & students will be offered the week following, July 11th at 10 am Rock Painting with Lori for 1st-5th Graders; July 12th at 10 am Big & Small with Clifford the Big Red Dog with Jennie for 3-5 year olds; and July 14th at 12:30 pm Spirit Horse Painting for the Tweens & Teens.
