Sunflowers in a Field

Thank you, Library Staff, Lori Wiener & Stephanie Bliss! Your thoughtful help at the circulation desk checking books and other materials in and out, placing holds, preparing and processing delivery and new books, craft projects and book recommendations as well as your computer assistance and Princh directions are appreciated.  Thank you, Library Board!  Amber Ericksen, President; Trisa Gilgen, Vice President; Mardy Ehrhardt, Secretary; Kristi Nortunen, Treasurer; Liz Smith, Terry Van Buren, Dave Karlinsky, and Aundrea Yanko.  Your time and dedication to the operations of the library are appreciated.  Thank you, Friends!  Kay Reader, President; Ruth Brennan, Vice President; Marcy Henri, Secretary; and Cheryl Hamm, Treasurer.  Thank you also to those Friends members who take time to attend the monthly meetings. Betty White, Merry Nemec, Georgene Ericksen, Leza Wells, Jim Brennan, and Mike Thewis.  Your teamwork, willingness to serve and organizational skills create additional funds and opportunities for the library and its patrons.  Thank you, City of Mellen!  Your support and help in the operation of the library are invaluable.  Thank you, Volunteers!  Without your service we would be unable to host the Bellringer Run and Raffle fundraisers for the Library.  A very special, “Thank you!” to all the parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles, teachers, babysitters, older siblings and all who encourage the love of reading in our young people.

Please note that the library will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 27.  The library will also be closed on Friday, November 28.  The Library will be open on Saturday, November 29 to greet our very special guests Santa & Mrs. Claus.  Library hours on Saturday are 9am-noon.  The Claus’s will arrive at 10am and will stay until noon.  Bring your letters to share with them and be sure to take a few pictures with this lovely couple.  Thanks to the Mellen Lions Club, each child will receive a book to keep for their very own.  They will also host the Bike Raffle.  All children who visit Santa & Mrs. Claus will be entered into the raffle.  There is no cost for this event or the raffle.  The Thursday Afternoon Knitters have also made a beautiful variety of hats & neck warmers for children to choose from.

Our last Storytime for this 8-week session will be on December 4 at 9am.  Our theme will be “Stars.”  The book, “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” illustrates Jane Taylor’s poem by using illustrations by Julia Noonan of Santa’s Christmas Eve visit.  We will meet again in the new year.

The Friends will meet on Thursday, December 4 at 5pm.
