Next week is National Library Week! This year’s theme is, “Libraries = Strong COMMUNITIES”.
Both Book Clubs will meet next week: Monday the 8th at 6 PM to discuss, “A Star for Mrs. Blake” by April Smith and Wednesday the 10th at noon to discuss, “Little Fires Everywhere” by Celeste Ng. May will be the last month of our Book Clubs for the 2018-19 school year. Monday’s book is: “By Invitation Only,” by Dorothea Benton Frank and Wednesday book is: “Return to Wake Robin: One Cabin in the Heyday of Northwoods Resorts,” by Marmie O. Mamminga. Let us know if you’re interested in join us. We will order a book for you through inter-library loan.
Library School Storytime will feature, Monkeys on Thursday, April 4th at 9 AM and Elephants on Thursday, April 11th at 9 AM. Join us in learning more about these to creatures through books, music and art.
Conversation & Crafts will meet on Thursday, April 4th at 7 PM. Bring your own handcrafts and enjoy company while you work. If interested we will be showing a YouTube video on making Scandinavian Stars. We will be making a few of these to decorate the library for this year’s Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme is: “A Universe of Stories”.
There are still a few spots left for Acrylic Painting on Saturday, April 13th at 6 PM. Please contact the library, if you’re interested in joining us. This month is a sign-like painting with the words, “Faith, Hope, Love”. You are welcome to change the words. Instruction will be by YouTube with Angela Anderson.
The Mellen Lioness Club has made available brochures from the American Diabetes Association asking, “Are You at Risk for Type 2 Diabetes?” They are available in the foyer along with the latest issue of Book Page and Bottom Line News & Views. Also available are magnets with the location of spots in Ashland County to safely dispose of Prescription Medications.
The Mellen Lions Club has two recycle drops here at the library – one for hearing aids and one for glasses. Consider donating these items, if they’re no longer in use at your home.
