LML’s Birthday

March 12, 2024

Stop by for cake & coffee during our open hours today and help us celebrate 97 years of service.

Legion Memorial Library was established on March 12, 1927 under the direction of American Legion Commander Alvin Rabbideau, and returning WWI veterans; with a legacy from logger, August Rohloff. The library was first housed in the  meeting room of the American Legion at Mellen’s City Hall.

In 1978, the library was recognized as a legal municipal library to the State of Wisconsin.

In 2008, the City of Mellen received a Community Development Block Grant to build a new facility to house the Senior Center and Library on the corner of Bennett & Iron. The library doors opened in their new space on Monday, March 22, 2010.
