Ready, Set, Library!
Celebrate National Library Week April 7-13, 2024 at Legion Memorial Library: Stop by the library this week and explore. Be sure to sign-up for a National Library Week drawing for a blanket donated by Sally Sarnstrom. The blanket is a blue & white blend; a great color combo for all our Mellen School Diggers. We’ll draw for a winner Monday morning, April 15th at 11am.
Ready, set, library! Legion Memorial Library encourages everyone in the community to visit the library to take part in the festivities and explore all the library has to offer. Libraries give us a green light to experience something truly special: a place to connect with others, learn new skills, and pursue our passions through book clubs, movie nights, crafting classes, author visits, and more. Legion Memorial Library offers a wide array of programs, classes and resources including paint nights, Asahi Nordic Exercise classes, and online eBooks and audio books through Libby.
No matter where you find yourself on the roadmap through life’s journey—preparing for a new career, launching a business, raising a family, or settling into retirement—our library offers the resources and support you need and an inclusive and supportive community where you will feel welcome.
So, get ready to explore, become inspired, and connect with others this National Library Week. Legion Memorial Library is there for you, all the way to the finish line.
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April.
For more information, visit the library’s website at https://www.legionmemoriallibrary.org/, Facebook, Legion Memorial Library, or Facebook, Mellen Bellringer.
With the start of National Library Week, the NWLN/Northern Waters Library Network begins its second year of the Passport Program. Pickup a passport from the library, then visit at least 10 libraries in the NWLN area and earn a chance to enter a drawing for some fun travel prizes. This program runs through summer and ends August 31st. Enjoy visiting our neighbor libraries and find out what makes each one so special.
Another Library Love Story, this week by Skyler Thewis: “I love my library because my grandma works there and because I love reading and get to paint. That’s why I love my library.” Thank you to Skyler for sharing your story. Your grandma loves your library visits.
Asahi Nordic Exercise classes continue through the month of May on Wednesday afternoons at 4pm. New and returning members’ welcome. No mats needed; all exercises are completed while standing. Wear comfortable clothing and join us for a routine of gentle stretching, balance, and wellness training.
“The Lions of Fifth Avenue” by Fiona Davis will be discussed at the Morning Book Club on Tuesday, April 16th at 9am.
