DESCRIPTION:In an effort to help limit the spread of COVID-19\, Legion Memorial Library will be closed March 17-April 26th.  We hope to reopen by April 27th. \nYou may also find updates on our Facebook page:  Legion Memorial Library; and/or the Mellen Weekly Record’s Library News column. \nAll library events and programs have been cancelled through April.  This includes:  book clubs\, acrylic painting classes and Storytime.  The Library Board of Trustees meeting and handbook committee meeting\, scheduled for March 24 will be postponed.\n\nPlease\, keep books\, DVDs\, magazines\, etc. that you have already checked out until we re-open.  As our library does not charge fines\, there is no need to worry about a late fee.\n\nEbooks and digital audio books are available through Overdrive\, found and accessed through our library’s website’s home page.  So are Gale Online Courses.\n\nTake care.  And remember to be kind to all working so hard for our health\, food\, and safety.

DESCRIPTION:This evening we will watch a video presentation of author Elaine Weiss’s introduction of her book\, “The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote” at the Woodrow Wilson National History Center in Washington D.C. \nThis event was initiated by the League of Women’s Voters of Ashland and Bayfield Counties\, who reached out to area libraries to partner in celebrating the Centennial  of the 19th Amendment.  Mellen’s Friends of Our Wonderful Library have voted to purchase four copies of Weiss’s book to add to our library’s lending collection.  This will help getting area citizens ready to participate in book discussions in various locations for the 2nd Chequamegon Reads event. \nOur library will host a book discussion in August.
