This week’s Garden Bundle:  Have your seed catalogs arrived?  The library recently added a new gardening title, “Complete Container Herb Gardening, Design and Grow Beautiful, Bountiful Herb-Filled Pots” by Sue Goetz.  Check out this book with “Putting Down Roots, Gardening Insights from Wisconsin’s Early Settlers” by Marcia C. Carmichael.  This book makes history come alive through the gardens at Old World Wisconsin featuring the Danish, Finnish, German, Irish, Norwegian, Polish immigrants’ plantings, practices, and tools.  Both books include recipes.  Kathleen Ernst writes a fictional mystery series of books featuring character Chloe Ellefson set-in Old-World Wisconsin.  The first title in the series is, “Old World Murder”.
This week’s Arts & Crafts Bundle:  “Daily Painting: Paint Small and Often to Become a More Creative, Productive, and Successful Artist” by Carol Marine paired with, “Making Frames” by Linette A. Bell, so you can have a nice finished product.  In between painting sessions why not read, “A Piece of the World” by Christina Baker Kline a historical fiction novel about Christina Olson the subject of artist Andrew Wyeth’s painting, “Christina’s World”.
Series Bundle Suggestion:  Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series.  This thrilling action-packed book series started with, “The Hunt for Red October” which was made into a movie starring Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin, and James Earl Jones.  More recently a new TV series has been created.  Selected titles and this new TV series are available at the library.  What we don’t have we can borrow from neighboring libraries through Interlibrary Loan.
A note on books in a series:  If possible, visit our library’s website, legionmemoriallibrary.org.  Hover your cursor over the “FIND BOOKS” tab and a drop-down list will appear.  Click on “NoveList”.  This site will help you with reading books in a series.  You may type in an author’s name, title of a book or the series in the search bar.  It will generate a list for you, so if you’d like, you may read the series in order and/or print the list and track the titles you’ve already read.  This site will also recommend title, author, and series read-alikes.  If you are unable to visit this site online, we’re happy to do it for you.  Let us know the series list you’d like, and we can look it up for you and help you select the titles you’d like to read.
